Trial 5: Filled Dumpling

Approximately 35 fresh worms were purged and chopped and cleaned as in earlier Trials 1-4.

Make a dough of flour (5 oz.), sesame oil (1 t.) and a pinch of salt. Refrigerate for 3 hours until hard, then roll out unto a circle 5" in diameter. Prepare the center fill by combining the chopped worms with ginger (1 slice, chopped), garlic (1 clove, chopped), and chopped leak or green onion. Sauté the fill mix in a pan with sesame oil (2 t.) and place in the center of the dough circle, folding in half and pressing the edges to close. Place the dumpling in boiling water, flavored as soup if desired, for about 10 minutes to cook.

Result: a dumpling, white in appearance.

Taste Tester 1 (Ron) took only a tiny sample, and found this not as good as the other two dishes prepared on July 10th.

Taste Tester 2 (Ichi) found it a 6 on a scale of 1-10, similar to dishes eaten in Japan, but would have liked soy sauce.
