The discussion was to pin down the exact date that the Hale-Bopp orbit would have placed the mythical Hale-Bopp closest to Jupiter. NO ONE was arguing that Jupiter could not be assumed to perturb a passing comet. Is this guy trying to use avoidance tactics or what! :-)
Just what is it that he's trying to avoid?
